Recently there have been released into print several outstanding books on the subjects of financial manias and bias perceptions that unknown to most people, skew our thought processes in such a way that can often lead to flawed decision making. Obviously, when it comes to deciding where, when, and how to invest large sums of money, the presence of flawed decision making can be disastrous. As a student of George Soros’ reflexivity in the financial markets I am keenly aware of this. Soros himself in his, The Alchemy of Finance (Soros, 1987) alluded to having to fight off reflexive thinking while making some of his own investment decisions. As the proverb atop of this page so aptly puts it, “…in the multitude of counselors there is safety.”
